Porcupine Dates Price in Malaysia 2026: What You Are Paying For
In 2026, Tong Xin Yuan porcupine dates run from RM400 for 1 gram of Grade 1 powder to RM42,280 for 36 grams of Supreme Shelled Aged Bezoar King. That spread looks extreme, but it is not arbitrary. Four things set it: grade, age, whether the material is shelled, and whether it is traditionally milled or nano-extracted.
The four things that set the price
1. Grade — the quality of the raw bezoar
Within any batch, bezoars differ in colour, density and how intact they are. The best are classified Premium, the rest Grade 1. This is the most basic layer of the price difference and the easiest to understand.
2. Age — why "aged" bezoar costs more
Bezoars that formed over a longer period are typically denser with more pronounced layering. They are scarce, and there is no way to speed the process up. Time is the only input, and it is the one input that cannot be compressed.
3. Whether it is shelled
Shelling means removing the coarser outer shell layer and keeping only the inner material. The process discards a substantial share of the raw weight — the same bezoar yields far less finished product. Much of the price of the Supreme and Royal shelled grades comes from here.
4. Process — milling or nano extraction
Nano extraction requires additional equipment and processing. Our nano-extracted powder was measured by an independent laboratory under ISO 22412:2017 at a hydrodynamic diameter of 122.73 nm. That processing cost shows up in the per-gram price — but since less is used per serving, the cost of a full course is not necessarily higher. See Nano extraction vs traditional grinding.
The 2026 price list

| 5 grams | RM 1,175 | RM 1,975 |

| 12 grams | RM 6,360 | RM 16,200 |

Work it out per gram and the structure appears
Totals are alarming in isolation. Cost per gram is what actually tells you something:
| Product | Per gram at smallest size | Per gram at largest size | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grade 1 Powder | RM 400 (1 g) | approx. RM 159 (10 g) | about 60% |
| Premium Grade Powder | RM 500 (1 g) | approx. RM 219 (10 g) | about 56% |
| Premium Nano | RM 700 (1 g) | approx. RM 429 (36 g) | about 39% |
| Supreme Shelled | RM 1,800 (1 g) | approx. RM 1,174 (36 g) | about 35% |
The pattern is consistent: the larger the weight, the cheaper each gram gets. The 1-gram size is effectively a trial size — fixed costs for packing, portioning and handling all land on that single gram.
What an unusually low price usually means
If a quote is far below everything else, there is normally a reason. Four common ones:
- Different grade. They quoted Grade 1; you assumed Premium. Establish which product it is.
- Different weight. "RM700 a portion" — how many grams is a portion? Without that, there is nothing to compare.
- Adulteration. Dyed starch, herb blends and refurbished old stock are all real practices. See the seven checks.
- Unclear provenance. A low price with no traceable source transfers the risk to you.
There is only one correct way to compare quotes: put grade, weight and price per gram side by side. Miss any of the three and the comparison is meaningless.
What a proper quote contains
- Product name and grade, stated explicitly
- Weight, total price, and the resulting price per gram
- Company registration and the ability to issue an invoice (Tong Xin Yuan: Xin Juan Enterprise Sdn Bhd, 200401020913 / 659417-D)
- Product documentation or test report available on request
- Delivery method and timing
None of that is difficult to put in a message. A seller who will not is not being inconvenienced — they are being careful.
