Porcupine Date Grades Explained: Which One to Choose
The range splits into two lines: traditionally milled (Grade 1 and Premium) and nano extracted (Premium Nano, Supreme Shelled and Royal Shelled). Choose the line first, then the weight. Choosing on price first is how people end up with the wrong product.

One line each
- Grade 1 Porcupine Date Powder — the entry grade. Everyday use, budget first.
- Premium Grade Powder — better raw bezoar, same traditional milling. For longer routines.
- Premium Nano (Concentrated Extract) — the entry point to the nano line. Less used per serving.
- Supreme Shelled Aged Bezoar King — shelled aged bezoar, the mainstay of the nano line.
- Royal Shelled Aged Bezoar King — the top grade, and the scarcest.
Grade 1 vs Premium: what actually differs
Both are traditionally milled. The difference is in the raw bezoar itself — its colour, density and the age at which it formed. Premium is selected from better material, so it costs more. The process is identical, which means the preparation method and dosing logic are the same for both.
| Weight | Grade 1 | Premium Grade |
|---|---|---|
| 1 gram | RM 400 | RM 500 |
| 3 grams | RM 840 | RM 1,320 |
| 5 grams | RM 1,175 | RM 1,975 |
| 10 grams | RM 1,588 (was RM 1,900) | RM 2,188 (was RM 3,500) |
Look closely at the 10-gram tier. Both are on promotion, and the per-gram cost falls sharply. Grade 1 is RM400 for one gram but RM1,588 for ten — roughly RM159 a gram. If you already intend to use it over a period, buying the larger size costs less overall.
The nano line: why less is used
Nano extraction does not change the raw material — it changes the process. Our nano-extracted powder was measured by an independent laboratory under ISO 22412:2017 by Dynamic Light Scattering at a hydrodynamic diameter of 122.73 nm, with the main peak at 96.67 nm. Traditionally milled particles generally sit between 100,000 and 500,000 nm.
Finer particles mean more total surface area for the same weight, and more contact with digestive fluid. That is why the nano grades are taken in smaller quantities. Full measurement data: Nano extraction vs traditional grinding.
| Weight | Premium Nano | Supreme Shelled |
|---|---|---|
| 1 gram | RM 700 | RM 1,800 |
| 2 grams | RM 1,190 | RM 3,060 |
| 12 grams | RM 6,360 | RM 16,200 |
| 24 grams | RM 10,680 | RM 29,160 |
| 36 grams | RM 15,455 | RM 42,280 |
Per gram again: Premium Nano is RM700 for one gram, but 36 grams works out around RM429 a gram — nearly 40% less. Supreme runs from RM1,800 down to roughly RM1,174 a gram at 36 grams. Larger weights are cheaper per gram on both lines.
What "shelled aged" means
Shelling removes the coarser outer shell and keeps only the inner material. It discards a substantial share of the raw weight, so the yield is smaller and the price higher. "Aged" refers to bezoar that formed over a longer period, which is typically denser with clearer layering.
Supreme and Royal are both shelled aged grades; they differ in scarcity and condition. At this level, stock often has to be reserved rather than bought off the shelf.
Matching grade to situation
| Your situation | Suggested |
|---|---|
| First time, want to understand it | Grade 1, 1–3 grams |
| Everyday use over a longer period | Grade 1 or Premium, 10 grams (best per-gram cost) |
| Prefer smaller servings, efficiency first | Premium Nano, start with 1–2 grams |
| Preparing for postpartum or post-surgery | Nano line; weight depends on duration — ask us, and ask your doctor first |
| A gift, or keeping a long-term reserve | Supreme or Royal Shelled Aged Bezoar King |
If your budget is fixed
Our honest advice: take the lower grade with enough weight rather than the higher grade in a token amount. Taking something intermittently is generally less useful than taking it steadily through a full period. The 10-gram promotional pricing on the traditional line exists precisely for this case.
